It’s hard to imagine that I first discovered Andrew Lagowski‘s work as the Search for Evidence of Terrestrial Intelligence (S.E.T.I.) over two decades ago, and ever since he has re-imagined and expanded upon his sound under various guises. But it seems like yesterday that I first spun his The Geometry Of Night, and to my amazement he was part of the new wave of ambient players who understood the darkside of lightness. This among others of the era were seminal to the way deep listening became critical to my understanding of navigating the auditory sense in general. And though it still seems fresh (timeless) to listen to his work, this newly minted collection offers several hours, over eight discs (w/a colorful twelve page booklet) and forty tracks (ranging from four to twenty-two minutes), to kick back…

Beyond Black: Project ‘Preserve Destiny’

May 7, 2017

This is a reworking of the ‘Above Black’ album, imagined as data recovered after millennia locked on magnetic media. Partially corrupted; only some of the original data remains, so interpolation has been used to reconstruct the messages left for any sentient beings who discover them. Created using the source files taken from the original improvised performance, which was direct to DAT.

S.E.T.I. – The Guide Lockstars of Astro Myrmex

August 5, 2016

Available for pre-order from TXT Recordings is the new album from S.E.T.I. following the travels of Astro Myrmex.

01 Instrument Calibration
02 Mirach
03 Black Engines
04 Gravity Stupor
05 Adhil
06 Almach
07 LoS Jitter Summary

Recorded between 1984 and 2016. Mixed and rendered at Studio FWD.

Astro Myrmex continues the journey initiated by the Nibiru Cataclysm via the various paths previously described in ‘The Data Logs of Astro Myrmex’. In order to navigate the vast regions of interstellar loneliness, guide ‘lockstars’ are identified and used as signposts. To document the deep space anomalies encountered, a soundtrack of events has been composed and presented here.

These recordings sometimes contain programming and compositing incidents that may seem out of place. They are to be considered part of the audio image and not discarded as errors.

Good bass response recommended for faithful rendition of recorded material.

The Geometry of Night/Companion double CD release – shipping May 29th 2015

May 17, 2015

Here you can find the re-release of ‘The Geometry of Night’ with its new sister album ‘Companion’. Below you can read the lovely promo blurb from Loki Foundation:

First released in 1996, `The Geometry of Night´ is the second album of Andrew Lagowski´s deep space sound project which marked a reference point to his works under the name LAGOWSKI. A classic album with laid back percussion, finely-tuned electronics, dark atmospheric synth waves and soundscapes. All constructed around a central premise; ‘The Geometry of Night’ perfectly describes the themes of night sky surveys, surveillance operations and radio telescope disinformation with the advice to keep a wary eye on the dark side of human nature. This is a remedy for the lonely nights staring at your social interface, the melancholy for lost opportunities and a hope for what lies beyond the nearest nebula.

This newly re-mastered edition includes the sister album `Companion´ with more than 60 minutes of new material. The concept involves companions, bound together by molecular chains, enveloped in dark matter and history. Swirling endlessly within infinite illuminating spirals. Their BrEAUTalitY – answerable only to the laws of universal physics and spiritual cosmology. A stunning soundtrack of deep hypnotic drones, textured layers of noise and space transmissions. Moving extra terrestrial sound research to its deepest core!

This double CD set comes in a nice 6-panel digifile. Mastered at Secretlab.

Neural Interval

October 27, 2014

As I sit here in the bunker near Heathrow Airport, tin foil hat on to protect me from David Icke’s reptiles and remote control ‘planes, I receive news from my Polish brothers at Zoharum that the new Nagamatzu double CD ‘Neural Interval’ has hit the streets. You can hear some of the tracks and buy the CD’s or digital versions here. It’s limited to 300 copies, so get moving if you’re into this stuff!Nagamatzu 'Neural Interval'

Also in the pipeline, my other brothers in Leipzig, those of the Loki Foundation, plan to re-release my S.E.T.I. album ‘The Geometry of Night’. This will not be a simple re-issue. Rather, it will be accompanied by a new ambient sister album entitled ‘Companion’.

As alluded to in my last missive, Andrea Bellucci has been patiently waiting while our bunker had its rebuild and I am now back on track working on our joint album.

Finally, Astro Myrmex will be presenting his data logs in the next few months. I’ll keep any interested parties informed via this site as, although my Facebook band pages still exist, I no longer use the site myself. The Lagowski and S.E.T.I. pages are run by my Polish and German brothers mentioned above, while the Nagamatzu page is run by Stephen Jarvis of Nagamatzu/VII Sins/Motorcade Records.
