The Du Cane Court ‘Studio’ aka ‘Mission Control’

January 14, 2017

The ‘studio’ at Du Cane Court, in Balham, South West London, where I recorded and arranged many albums and tracks including ‘False Dawn’, ‘Die Datenschleuder’, ‘Knowledge’, ‘Prismatic’, the Lagowski Chromium Industries 12″ series, Nagamatzu and engineered Lustmord, Terror Against Terror and Isolrubin BK. That is Lustmord’s Akai keyboard in the foreground, which we used as a MIDI controller and sampler. A while after this, I got a Yamaha DX11 to control my MIDI equipment and sold the TEAC 8 track and Seck 12-8-2 mixer to Paul Rooney, the guitarist from Vice Squad.Lagowski at Mission Control

Fly my children – the monster must be destroy-Ed!

November 2, 2013

I’ve never had a manager for my musical output and am not the kind of person who can schmooze his way to success. I don’t believe in kissing the backside of those who I think might help to increase my exposure in the electronic music/sound world. I find it hard to look at my musical output from the outside in – to me it seems sporadic and patchy with a few tunes here and there that I still enjoy. I’m always analysing my own tracks and wishing I could have done this or that better but ultimately, once a track is done and ‘out’, it’s like saying goodbye to an offspring and time to make another one.

So this week, in an attempt to increase my circle of listeners, and to introduce people to my music (which I’ve been making for 30+ years) I’ve paid FB to bring traffic to this page. Only a very small amount but without a manager, there is not much I can do to push it out there and spread the virus.

In the long distant past, I would have sent cassettes out to fanzines and later, cd’s to magazines and websites. I even met people and gave them cd’s in person! I soon realised that giving people your music free, in the hope that they’d review it or talk to others about it, was a very naive thing to do.

I don’t really know what I’m trying to say apart from, this is the way I’ve always done it and I don’t think it’s ever going to change. So paying FB to promote me is perhaps the equivalent of sending out that cassette 30 years ago and I don’t really expect it to go anywhere or reach anyone but you can’t hang on to your children forever and maybe this will push them further afield into areas that they’ve never been.

While you were sleeping…

April 6, 2013

It seems that I’ve been busier than I realised lately. The first of the projects was two remixes for Maciek Szymczuk for his ‘Cloud Watching’ release. More info to be found here. I have also done two remixes for Attrition which are available for a limited time as detailed here.

As part of a relatively small campaign to publicise the Legion ‘False Dawn’ 20th Anniversary edition, there is an interview published in the Polish ‘Hard Art’ magazine which will soon be available from Zoharum at this link.

While we’re on the Legion tip, my re-release of Legion’s ‘Leviathan’ is now available for a very reasonable fee from my Bandcamp page here. The download-only release includes three previously unreleased/new tracks, photographs and a MIDI file from the original session for you to play with.

The re-issue of Nagamatzu’s ‘Igniting the Corpse’ album on vinyl as a very limited run, will soon see the light of day. It will have very special hand screen-printed works by Stephen Jarvis (VII Sins) for the first bunch of lucky customers. More details here and on the soon-to-be-open Motorcade website when they are available.

I have also begun work on the next S.E.T.I. projects too. One will be vinyl only entitled ‘Final Trajectory’, one will be a CD for LOKI and the other will be a 24+ hour live stream. I have also been asked to do something for Touch Radio, which I will endeavour to accomplish in the next couple of months. Large dish arrays of the UK – watch out for the S.E.T.I. mobile studio to arrive on your doorstep momentarily!

Finally, my collaborative project with a secret partner will also soon see the light/dark of day. We’ve been ‘hard at it’, as they say, over the last year – sending samples, files and mixes over the internet and producing something truly deep and cinematic. You’re going to love it 😉

Legion – False Dawn 2CD (20th Anniversary Expanded Edition)

September 13, 2012

LAGOWSKI PRESENTS LEGION – False Dawn – 2CD album
20th anniversary expanded edition // ZOHAR 033-2.

LAGOWSKI presents LEGION – False Dawn 2CD
(20th Anniversary Expanded Edition)
out on 14.10.2012

20 years on, this dusty classic has gained a well deserved reissue. The new mastering was prepared by Łukasz Miernik (responsible for his excellent work on “From Earth to Sirius” compilation containing a track by S.E.T.I. – another Andrew Lagowski side-project) and the cover was redesigned by Maciej Mehring (who has done most of Zoharum’s cover designs).
It has been expanded to include 7 rare/unreleased bonus tracks and has been adorned with an additional part entitled “False Dawn Revisited”. The latter contains remixes of the three original tracks by Geomatic, Zenial and Maciek Szymczuk. These two additional sections give you a different perspective on “False Dawn” and LEGION’s ambient stylistics. Here it is… False Dawn… to be discovered… again.

The reissue is presented in a 2CD edition in a luxurious 6-panel digipak.
